Blue Fire, Chapter 2

“Oh, no, oh, no, oh, no!!” I said, panicking, as I tried to scoop up the letters. They had fallen out of my backpack somehow. “Makoto, hurr—“ Kai was interrupted by a loud BOOM outside. “Oh,” said Chi, “my,” said Hina-chan, “God,” finished Reiji. They were there. The soulburners. We had made a deal with them that we would give the letters if they wouldn't try t kill us any more. Of course, we weren't actually going through with it. We were planning to send me alone and Kai, Reiji, and Chi would jump out and capture them. Even though I'm the leader, Kai and Chi normally thought of the plans. I froze where I was, terrified. I picked up the other letters and backed into a corner. We were in a small house made of only one room. Everyone was hiding behind the couch, to make it look like I was the only one there. Hina and Toyu were there for backup. All of our eyes widened in terror when the door slammed open, and in walked Lamora and Frederick, noses up in the air confidently. Apparently they hadn't brought their pets , luckily. They both walked to the middle of the room. "... We know you're not the only one in here," Lamora said coldly. I looked from Kai to her and back again and stuffed the letters into my backpack. "... Hina, Toyu, Koto, run! We've got 'em!" Chi yelled, pulling her huge sword from its sheath and jumping over the couch, assuming her battle position. Kai and Reiji followed, with their shorter swords. Hina and Toyu high-tailed it out of there, out of the door we were closest to. I was frozen in horror, though. I know, what a great leader, right? Anyway, the battle started, and I was still unable to move. That was when I noticed another person in the room, right next to me. I turned my head slowly, and saw that it was a boy, who seemed to be sleeping, or maybe worse. I slowly moved his head up so I could see his face, and shuffled backwards in horror. He had a star tattoo on his face-- The one all soulburners had. Except, for the other soulburners, the tattoos represented their element. A small flame for Lamora, and a chunk of ice for Frederick. But what could a star possibly represent? I don't know why, I just felt like I had to. I moved forward again and softly touched his tattoo, then almost screamed, because his eyes opened. Then I got calm once more, because they closed again. I moved behind the couch and watched the fight.
"Makoto, what are you doing?! Leave no--" Kai was interrupted by Lamora's fire whip striking him across the face. "Kai!!" I screamed. Then, I froze for the, like, thousandth time that day when a huge blast of blue fire flew at Lamora and Frederick from behind me, knocking them over and giving my friends the advantage. I turned around and saw the soulburner from before standing, angry, smoke puffing out of his mouth. He ran outside, and I followed, finally realizing that I had to leave. When I got outside, I saw something horrible. I saw a huge blue dragon right in front of me, and Hina and Toyu cowering in the corner. When the huge dragon nodded, somehow understood that he wanted me to get in it's back. So I did. I climbed on with the small horns on it's sides. Once I had found a comfortable spot, it took off. "Wait!! No!! Hina!! Toyu!!!" I yelled, pulling on one of the horns to make the dragon stop. I screamed again when the small building burst into flames, before I saw any small dots running out of it.
"Koto!!!" Hina and Toyu screamed in unison. "... Uh, uh, uh, jump!!" I couldn't think of anything else at the moment, and we could all jump really high. Hina grabbed Toyu's hand just in case the youngster couldn't make it, and jumped. She barely managed to grab one of the horns, and I grabbed her wrist, like, two seconds before she fell. I pulled them both up and almost cried of relief, and worry, for my other friends. I didn't care where the dragon was taking us. I didn't care if the dragon was kidnapping us for the soulburners. I didn't care any more. I just wanted us all to be together again.
